This blog covers the evolution of my H0, H0e (and N) scale model railroading projects.

My VALKENVELD shelf layout is a 150 x 30 cm H0 switching layout based on the classic "Inglenook" concept. It's the 1960's in the fictional town of Valkenveld in The Netherlands. The layout resembles a small yard on a freight-only shortline serving several industries. The layout was exhibited already a couple of times, for example twice at EUROSPOOR in Utrecht (2016 and 2018), at the MTD event in Belgium (2019) and at OMC Hilversum club events.

I am working on two projects at the moment. ELMSLOHE represents a shortline terminus in Northern Germany in the 1960s. The L-shaped layout is 250 x 110 cm plus a fiddle yard.

My other project is KIESGRUBE KLIEBEN, an industrial narrow gauge line of 760mm (H0e) serving a gravel pit. The micro-layout is just 75 x 30cm, thereby fitting into an Ikea Billy shelf. It allows some switching, following my concept of short operation sessions "at the flick of a switch".

I believe that in model railroading "small is beautiful" and can provide lots of building and operational fun. I am therefore particularly interested in small and micro layouts, shelf layouts and switching layouts
