EUROSPOOR 2018

I really enjoyed the three (and a half) days at Eurospoor in Utrecht. It's great to be able to exhibit your layout and even greater if it is coupled to modules of fellow model railroaders. As in 2016 and at other shows, Valkenveld was linked to the modules "Looseinde" from Marco and "Ergernisse" from Jasiu, plus a small fiddle yard. My son Milo and (another) Marco helped with operations during some of the days. We enjoyed each compliment we got and received three(!) invitations for future shows!

People especially commented on our trains running at prototype speeds, the effect of depth on a layout that is just 30 cm deep and the general atmosphere of "less is more".

Sunday is "family day" with more children visiting Eurospoor. You immediately recognize the future model railroader when he is not bored but fascinated by trains creeping rather than flying over the rails.

Day 1 at Eurospoor in Utrecht has been great fun with lots of switching activity in Valkenveld, Looseinde and Ergernisse and lots of great discussions with other railfans. If you missed it, you still have a chance to visit us tomorrow and on Sunday in hall 3, stand 3 E 036. Here some impressions:

MSC Malbak event

The 30 years jubilee event of the MSC Malbak was a great event, perfectly organised with great hospitality. For us three participants of the Omroep Modelspoorclub it was a great testrun for EUROSPOOR next week. Everything worked smoothly on Valkenveld and the modules "Looseinde" from Marco and "Ergernisse" from Jasiu. We had no major issues and great fun in running the trains and talking to the interested public. We allowed ourselves to run not only the 1960s NS theme rolling stock but also locomotives from other countries.

The images show the state of Valkenveld before the two upcoming shows: the jubilee event of the MSC Malbak in Blaricum on 3-4 November and EUROSPOOR in Utrecht on 9-11 November. Obviously without rolling stock, cars, people and all the nitty gritty details that will be arranged at the events.

Just a week before EUROSPOOR, Valkenveld will be exhibited at the 30 years jubilee show of the “Modelspoorclub De Malbak” model railroad club in Blaricum on 3 and 4 November. Call it a general repetition.

Preparations are in full swing with amongst other things the Deelder Staal facade almost complete and a new fence for the "Hoekstra Oliefabrieken" silo area.
